Unique and romantic language
Before, when the Roman Empire still existed, everyone spoke Latin, but when it fell apart the population split out into different kingdoms. Even though in the Roman Catholic church the pries spoke Latin, the people started to change the language with new words, expressions and pronunciations and created the Italian language. Although one language was created, the fact that Italy was divided into many kingdoms created many dialects where not every part of the country understood each other. When all the regions of Italy reunited, they tried to find a solution so that everyone could communicate with each other without difficulty of understanding one another where the Florentine dialect of Italian chosen as a common dialect. However, people still talk their original dialect in their region and among their family and friends.
Body language
As Italian, we are told that when we talk we always see the need of doing gestures with our hands and facial expressions to make it easier for people to understand what we are saying. The most common hand gesture is to put the fingers and thumb together and hold them with the palm facing outward such as the image on the right of the page which mans " What is it?".
Why not know basic words in Italian?
